About Daniel
Daniel Park is an investment analyst and financial educator based in Toronto, ON. After earning his B.Comm in Finance from Queen's University and obtaining his CFA charter, he spent nine years in institutional portfolio management at one of Canada's Big Five banks, working across fixed income and equity mandates.
During his time on Bay Street, Daniel saw a recurring problem: retail investors were paying 2%+ MERs on actively managed mutual funds when low-cost ETFs delivering comparable or better returns were readily available. The complexity barrier — dense prospectuses, confusing fee structures, and conflicting advice — was keeping regular Canadians from making informed investment decisions.
That frustration drove his transition from institutional finance to education. He began writing for Financial Post and contributing investment analysis segments on BNN Bloomberg, focusing on translating institutional-grade concepts into language that everyday investors could act on.
Daniel joined Northern Investor to make the same calibre of investment knowledge available to Canadians who are just getting started. His guides focus on TFSA and RRSP strategies, ETF selection, portfolio construction, and Canadian tax optimization — always backed by data and stripped of unnecessary jargon.
